Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is a specialist service of Physiotherapy dedicated to discussing symptoms associated with the pelvis and pelvic floor muscles. This may include bladder, bowel, prolapse, pain or sexual function, surgical, and pre/post natal support. Treatment options are multimodal and great detail will be taken in your assessment to individualise your care plan to suit your rehabiltation needs.

During your initial consultation a thorough history will be taken. This will include a discussion on bladder, bowel, pain experience, obstetric history, and sexual function as appropriate.

Such conversation can feel personal, however we strive to provide an inclusive safe space for you to share this information that is important to support your treatment.

A physical examination will then be conducted based on your symptoms. This may include looking at how you move, and assessing different joints such as the hip, or lower back. A internal examination may also be necessary to assess the pelvic floor muscles, which is standard clinical practice for Pelvic Health Physiotherapists. Each step will be discussed in detail with you first.

After the examination, a full explanation of the findings will be outlined and corresponding treatment plan made tailored to your indiviaul need. Future follow up need and time frame will be guided by the examination.

Our appointment costs are:

ACC Initial assessment: $120

ACC Follow up: $60

Private Initial assessment: $190

Private follow up: $95

Initial consults are 45 to 60 minutes long. Follow up consults are 25 to 30 minutes.

You may already have an approved ACC claim number prior to coming to affirm rehab. If you do please tell us this claim number at your first consult as this will allow us to process a payment with the ACC subsidy. We can also complete an ACC claim form with you in clinic if necessary. Please note ACC will only pay a portion of the treatment costs for pelvic health physiotherapy appointments.

Affirm rehab has no affiliation with any insurance providers, therefore full payment will be required at the time of the consult. As all private health insurance policies are different it is recommended to take a receipt for your appointment to send to your insurance company for reimbursement as applicable.

Affirm rehab is based at ground floor, 154 Victoria Street, Wellington. The clinic room is a shared space with another massage practice ‘Intensive Health Clinic’. Walking through the glass doors there are 9 stairs to walk up. There is no lift access. Should you require assistance with a buggy please call the affirm rehab number on 0223790019

There is paid public parking at 79 Dixon Street Parking as well as Wilson Parking - Leftbank and Wellington City Council parking at the same location on Victoria Street opposite the clinic. There is also some available on road paid parking on Victoria Street right outside the building.

Please provide 24 hours notice of a cancellation or to reschedule an appointment.

If 12-24 hours notice is provided, 50% fee may be charged.

Less than 12 hours notice and NO SHOWS will result in 100% full fee appointment charge.
